РАСПОЛОЖЕНИЕ

Два университетских кампуса — Хеслингтон-Вест и Хеслингтон-Ист — расположены вне городской черты Йорка (10 минут езды на автобусе или 25 на велосипеде). Время в пути между кампусами — 15 минут пешком или 5 минут на бесплатном маршрутном автобусе.

Время в пути до аэропортов и вокзалов: международный аэропорт Манчестера — 2 часа на поезде, вокзал Лондона Кингс-Кросс — 2 часа на поезде.

Кампус сооружен вокруг крупнейшего в Европе искусственного озера. Все объекты учебной и жилой инфраструктуры (колледжи, общежития, кафетерии, магазины, банки и проч.) находятся в одном месте.

ОПИСАНИЕ

Йоркский университет — один из десяти лучших университетов Великобритании, член группы «Рассел» — ассоциации 20 вузов с высокой интенсивностью исследований, в которую также входят Оксфорд и Кембридж. Основанный в 1963 году и изначально насчитывающий всего 230 студентов, за 50 лет он стал ведущим учебно-исследовательским центром страны с более 16 000 студентов.

Позиции в международных рейтингах:

• 1-е место в Великобритании и 7-е в мире среди университетов до 50 лет (Tmes Higher Education)
• 8-е место в Великобритании по значимости проводимых исследований (RAE, 2008)
• 12-е место в Великобритании и 103-е в мире в общем рейтинге университетов Times Higher Education

КАМПУС

Кампус университета составляет приблизительно 200 акров (0.81 км2) в размере, включая Йоркский Научный парк и Национальный научный центр изучения.

В студенческом супермаркете диапазон продуктов очень велик, есть даже мясо Halal (замороженное мясо, можно заказать сырое мясо), кошерное (доступно по запросу), а также китайские продукты.

Йорк известен своими барами и пабами, здесь есть все, от шикарных бистро до оригинальных баров, кафе-баров и традиционных пабов. Согласно легенде есть 365 пабов, один на каждый день года. Совсем недалеко для дополнительных развлечений расположены города Лидса и Манчестер.

Репутация Йорка как туристического центра сказывается круглогодичной программой фестивалей, включая фестиваль комедии, фестиваль викинга, кулинарный фестиваль и немецкий рождественский базар.

У Йорка есть превосходное кино в стиле арт-хаус, которое предлагает показы независимого, и мирового кино. Для известных блокбастеров есть большой, современный комплекс Vue недалеко от парка Clifton Moor Park.
